After stupidly leaving the staff Christmas party until the last minute I was seriously stressing about getting something organised. Thankfully I hadn't left it too late though and I managed to book a laser combat experience just in time to avoid a mutiny!

The reason I went for a laser combat experience was because my kids had been earlier in the year and watching on from the sidelines all I wanted to do was join in! It also gave the team the chance to let off some steam and have some fun at the end of what'd been a pretty hectic year.

When I told the guys in the office they were all really up for it too, in fact I don't think I've ever been as popular. We're a pretty competitive bunch so the chance to try a laser combat experience gave us the perfect opportunity to settle the office bragging rights once and for all. I booked the experience for all 18 of us, and even though we range from 18-60ish I was fairly confidant we'd survive 2 hours of laser combat.

Because I'd left booking our Christmas party so late we didn't have long to wait until our event, which was probably a good thing in hindsight. On the day of our laser combat experience I met the rest of the team at venue, and once we'd signed in and got changed into out combat gear we headed straight into the game zones.

I'd booked the same indoor venue that I'd taken the kids too, and I'd forgotten how good the zones were. They were more like movie sets than combat zones and they even had special lighting and sound effects. As we battled our way round the zones things got as competitive as I'd expected, nut everyone took it in good spirit.

We played loads of different games, and the whole team seemed to absolutely love the laser combat experience. I think I enjoyed it even more than my kids had and that's saying something. So I'm definitely going to squeeze another laser combat experience in before someone realises I’m old enough to know better.
